Payroll Officer – Local Government Contract (2 Roles)

We are seeking experienced Payroll Officers to join a large and well-established public sector organisation based in Penrith, Sydney. This is a great opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment supporting the delivery of weekly payroll services.

The Role Reporting to the Payroll Lead, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll and providing support to internal stakeholders.

What’s on Offer

• Hourly Rate: $45.79 (PAYG) or $51.28 (ABN)
• Full-time hours: 35 hours per week (Mon–Fri), 8:30am-4:00pm
• Contract Duration: June to September 2026 (initial 3 months)

Key Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end weekly payroll (timesheets, variations, leave)
• Maintain employee records and ensure payroll accuracy
• Manage leave balances and ensure policy compliance
• Respond to payroll enquiries from staff and external parties
• Prepare employment documentation and correspondence
• Assist with reporting and general payroll administration

About You

• Proven payroll experience in a large organisation (public sector highly regarded)
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to manage deadlines in a high-volume environment
• Relevant qualification in Payroll, Finance, Business, or similar

Desirable:

• Knowledge of Local Government or Awards
• Driver’s Licence
• UKG and Empower knowledge highly advantageous
