Grant Engineered is a Western Sydney based manufacturing business specialising in custom truck body and trailer builds. Our work involves a mix of fabrication, engineering design and problem-solving to deliver practical solutions for our customers.

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Draftsperson who enjoys working in a hands-on manufacturing environment and wants to be part of the full lifecycle of a project - from concept through to build.

This role suits someone who is not only technically capable but engaged with the flow of work across the business, able to understand how projects move through the workshop and contribute to improving the way we operate.

The Role

You will be responsible for producing accurate design drawings and supporting the design-to-build process while working closely with management, workshop staff, and suppliers.

In addition to drafting responsibilities, this role will also support the implementation and development of systems and processes that improve how projects move through the business.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys being proactive, contributing ideas, and helping create better working systems within a growing company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD

  • Develop fabrication drawings and workshop-ready documentation

  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)

  • Support custom truck body and trailer design projects

  • Work closely with workshop teams to ensure designs translate effectively into production

  • Assist in material specification and ordering requirements

  • Maintain accurate design documentation and drawing records

  • Support the implementation of new systems and processes within the business

  • Contribute ideas to help improve workflow, project coordination, and operational efficiency

  • Stay engaged with the progress of jobs through the workshop, ensuring drawings and information support the build process

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical drafting

  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (essential)

  • Experience with AutoCAD 2D

  • Ability to produce clear fabrication and workshop drawings

  • Experience with sheet metal and structural fabrication

  • Understanding of engineering drawing standards (AS1100 preferred)

  • Experience preparing Bills of Materials (BOMs)

Experience in truck, trailer, heavy vehicle, or fabrication industries will be highly regarded

Personal Attributes

We are looking for someone who:

  • Takes a practical and solutions-focused approach

  • Is proactive and engaged with how work flows through the business

  • Has the ability to contribute to systems and process improvements

  • Communicates well with both office and workshop teams

  • Works well in a small, collaborative team environment

  • Is organised, reliable, and takes ownership of their work

Why Join Grant Engineered?

  • Be part of a growing and evolving manufacturing business

  • Work on custom engineering builds, not repetitive production

  • Opportunity to contribute to improving systems and processes

  • A hands-on environment where your ideas and initiative are valued

How to Apply
